Featured Indie Book: The Republic of Jack (Jeffrey Kerr)

The Republic of Jack (Jeffrey Kerr)

Featured Indie Book on Indie Author News: Literary Fiction / Political Satire The Republic of Jack by Jeffrey Kerr.

The Republic of Jack has a great premise (Texas becomes an independent country). "You know, Dr. Kerr, Texas has the constitutional right to secede."
It's funny and it provides insight into the absurdity of today's politics.

The Book has been self-published via Amazon and is available as eBook and Paperback - 249 pages - released in April 2020.

About the Book

Jack Cowherd will do anything to win the Texas governorship, even flirt with 21st century secessionists in the Texas Patriot Party. Victory is achieved, but only at the cost of Texas being tossed out of the United States. The Republic of Texas lives again! And Jack is president.

Friend and political advisor Tasha Longoria has long warned Jack of the dangers of his demagoguery. Now when he tries to halt the madness, the worst comes to pass: he is impeached, arrested, and charged with treason, the penalty for which is death.

Jack has but one chance to save his beloved Texas, not to mention his life. But success depends upon help from the one person least likely to give it . . . Tasha.

Reviews (Excerpts)

- "[...] The action and dialogue move at a fast pace and I found myself laughing out loud more than just a few times. In my opinion, if you like Mel Brooks comedies, you’ll like the hilarious, and sometimes ribald, comedy. Kerr pulls no punches and goes where the story will inevitably go. [...]" - WGirl (Amazon)

- "This page-turner of a novel is set in Austin, mostly around the doings of the Texas Legislature. Readers who know Texas will find many of its fictional characters to be cut from easily recognizable cloth. This underscores the author’s deep understanding of both the city and of the powerful political leaders who populate the corridors of the Capitol Building. Written in the finest traditions of Billy Lee Brammer [...]" - Arthur Webber

- "Jeff Kerr loves Texas! He has had a knack of making the stories of Texas history come alive. This novel begs the question of which is most outlandish, fact or fiction? His honor and satire are on full speed ahead and the pages keep turning as you keep one eye on Twitter feed. A fun read. Thank you, Jeff.[...]" - Kent Bohls

- "With colorful, witty characters and an exciting storyline, this book entertains and peaks concerns as well: just how stunning a catastrophe can politics get us into? I highly recommend Republic of Jack!" - Puppy Pool (Amazon)
