Featured Indie Book: Paper Stars Rewritten (Jennilynn Wyer)

Paper Stars Rewritten (Jennilynn Wyer)

Featured Indie Book on Indie Author News: Young Adult Romance Paper Stars Rewritten by Jennilynn Wyer.

Paper Stars Rewritten is the anticipated second book in the Fallen Brook series by Jennilynn Wyer. It continues Elizabeth’s love story after the earth-shattering events that took place in All Our Next Times.

The Book has been self-published via Amazon and is available as eBook and Paperback - 300 pages - released in November 2020.

About the Book

This is the story of a girl and three boys.
Elizabeth. Jayson. Julien. Ryder.
A princess and her three princes.
But this is not your typical love story.
Elizabeth’s choice changed everything.
It took one night to destroy it all.

One will lose everything.
One will get a second chance.
One will have to choose.
Pick a side. Are you Team Jayson, Team Julien, or Team Ryder?

Ryder.

It has always been the four us – me, Elizabeth, Jayson, and Julien. We grew up together. Shared our lives together. We were best friends. We were a family. Until we weren’t. Until my best friend betrayed me.

Let me back up to the beginning. I have loved Elizabeth since I was nine years old. From the moment she smiled at me and teased me. Elizabeth was everything I ever wanted but couldn’t have because my best friends, Jayson and Julien, were in love with her too. So I was relegated to watch from the sidelines, stuck in the role of best friend, as the girl I loved gave her heart to someone else.

But I loved her enough to let her go because loving her meant I would sacrifice what I wanted for her to find happiness – even if it wasn’t with me. Then one horrific night changed everything, and Elizabeth was gone. Taken from us. Taken from me.

It’s been over a year since Jayson, Julien, and I last saw her. Every day has been a struggle without her, and all we want, all we wish for, is to have her back. What is the old adage? Be careful what you wish for.

What happens when life offers you a second chance at love? Am I selfish enough to take it? Strong enough to survive when it all comes crashing back down around me?

I thought I knew how our stories would end. I couldn't have been more wrong. All I know is - our stories can be rewritten.

First day of senior year and Tia West just ran over a hot guy in the high school parking lot. In her defense, she’s a little preoccupied as the caretaker of five younger siblings, one dog, one cat, facing a mountain of bills and determined to keep her family together. The eternal optimist, she just needs to try harder, be better, take a deep breath and definitely shouldn’t bring home another stray dog or an angry, scary and scarred boy who is obviously in desperate need of a hug.

After a stint in juvie, Taz is back for senior year, and every minute is a struggle. His only defense is silence.

Keeping quiet avoids the slaps, hits, threats and is as close to safe as he can manage. Until Tia West convinces him of possibilities he never knew existed. She fills every dark, empty space with a lightness he’s never experienced before, and the only way to keep her is by speaking up for himself. But his secrets are the kind that devastate and destroy.

Featured Indie Book: The Eighth Titan (Zach Jordan)

The Eighth Titan (Zach Jordan)
Featured Indie Book on Indie Author News: Epic Fantasy Novel The Eighth Titan by Zach Jordan.

The Eighth Titan is about an 18-year-old trying to save the world, it's about struggling to place allegiance properly, studying something you have no hope of understanding, and fighting to protect the fragility of life by crushing that very thing. Beyond all that, it's about a metaphysically dualistic world, moral ambiguity, and pontifications on the purpose in a life.

The Book has been self-published via Amazon and is available as eBook and Paperback - 903 pages - released in May 2020.

About the Book

Magic is quite unlike how the storybooks describe it—it’s cryptic, impenetrable, and has been illegal for over seven hundred years. And yet, the last of a dying race has prophesied this to be the only way to stop an ancient evil, that which was sealed away a millennium ago by seven titans: the Eighth, a nefarious being intent only on bending the realm to its cruel subjugation.

To make matters worse, the realm’s history is all but unknown. Information on the titans is scarce, and there exist no accounts describing how they sealed the Eighth originally. Not to mention, the magical ‘arts,’ taught in ancient tomes inherited across generations by the politicians of today, seem to raise questions more than answer them. Our young hero finds himself confused and disoriented, mentally taxed by his studies and a realm that appears more chaotic and violent with each passing day. Even those closest to his heart are transformed by the journey, forever marked by misdeeds committed and suffered through.

This is Jack’s story—it is a story of growing up, of a crumbling world direly needing strength, of love and hatred intertwined in passionate bonds, of the cyclical deaths and rebirths all find themselves within, of realizing how much must be sacrificed for what he fights to protect. It is his story, and it is everyone’s story.

Featured Indie Book: Theme Song Panic (C.K. Larsen)

Theme Song Panic (C.K. Larsen)
Featured Indie Book on Indie Author News: Young Adult Urban Fantasy Theme Song Panic by C.K. Larsen.

Theme Song Panic is about a college gamer guy plagued by a musical curse. So, any restaurants, grocery stores, or even passing ice cream trucks can create a dangerous magical anomaly.
Now, the ancient gods have found him and want the power for themselves. Dax must figure out how to transform his curse into a gift before he becomes something more deadly than the demons clawing at his door.

The Book has been self-published via Amazon and is available as eBook and Paperback - 322 pages - released in October 2018.

About the Book

Prowling the edge of shadows, drenched in a writhing nightmare, lies Dax’s greatest fear: Music. If only suffering from Melophobia was the worst thing happening to him, then he’d be okay, right? Nope, not a chance.

Dax remains in constant battle while utilizing every tool possible to keep his musical curse at bay, but earplugs and noise-canceling headphones can only go so far. His mortal enemies, the restaurants, grocery stores, and even ice cream trucks, are dangerous almost to the level of a noob in a first-person shooter game. Even a chiming ringtone could unleash potentially violent magic on the world around him.

He and his best friend, Teddy, are the only ones who know the truth, that is until they find themselves face-to-face with the ancient gods who want his power back. Despite the only deities he’s ever faced coming from video games, Dax chooses to fight against the odds and the lack of resources in an otherwise magicless world, save for himself. Unfortunately, he has spent a better part of his life avoiding his curse and cannot control the power. And even if he can, the catatonic fear from his melophobia could send him back to the place more terrifying than a zombie-infested mansion, a correctional institute, better known as, the Grayhill Asylum.

With help from a local coven and an investigative police officer, Dax learns more about his power and its link to his past, revealing him to be their last hope in a world void of enchantment. He must either prepare to fight and risk his sanity and the lives of those closest to him. Or, enlist their help, which could make him more of a threat than the ancient ones they now face.

Featured Indie Book: The Last Everything (Frank Kennedy)

The Last Everything (Frank Kennedy)
Featured Indie Book on Indie Author News: Young Adult Science Fiction Adventure The Last Everything by Frank Kennedy.

The Last Everything offers a gateway to another universe, back to a place the author created many years ago in my generational science fiction novel, The Father Unbound. I hope readers love the thrill of this chase and leave this tale ready to dive in to the next adventure.

The Book has been self-published via Amazon and is available as eBook and Paperback - 331 pages - released in November 2018.

About the Book

The Last Everything tells the last eight hours in the life of Jamie Sheridan, a 17-year-old on the run who discovers his life is more than just a lie - he was brought here from a different universe to serve an explosive purpose that is about to come to fruition.

Jamie, whose life in the small town of Albion, Alabama, already left him disillusioned, must now face the shocking reality that people he has known all his life are hunting him down, determined he must die before the clock ticks to zero.

Facing a new, seemingly hopeless reality, Jamie must rely on his only two friends - Sammie and Michael - and a new, dark entity preparing to be born within him.

This action-oriented story takes place almost entirely within eight hours but launches a four-book saga that ensnares two universes.

Review (Excerpt)

- "Take a ride, folks, with this pell-mell tale of a seventeen-year-old plunged into a nightmare of being hunted by his neighbours before discovering vast galactic forces at play, with his death destined. Kennedy, as ever, writes stylishly whilst pushing the story along at a frenetic pace. Probably best read in one sitting." - Andres Kabel

Kiran, a flirtatious space cadet, is planning to become one of the most successful starship captains ever. Her life is all about organizing illicit races and gambling. After being kidnapped she is sent to her home planet. Later Kiran is forced to marry the mightiest warrior by the right of the strongest.

Many girls have dreamt, at least once of being, a princess, but being a princess of Eeristan, the khassarat of Aygor, is a big deal. This is not about fancy dresses, diamond tiaras and palaces. Eeristan is the land of men – the land of a strong patriarchal society where women have no rights at all.

She will never accept this.

Kiran will run away back to her freedom and lifestyle. Her restless soul won't abide either her cruel father or her potential husband. No matter how difficult it might be to confront the whole planet. They might be stronger physically but she is a cadet, after all, and cadets never surrender! Too bad that Eeristan might not survive the changes that she desires strongly.

New Indie Book Release: Noël - Of Memories and Sleep (Benjamin Boudreaux)

New Indie Book Release:
Noël: Of Memories and Sleep - Benjamin Boudreaux
YA Fantasy Adventure (300 Pages - August 2018)

Noël: Of Memories and Sleep draws heavily on Cajun and Creole culture, which have rarely (accurately) been explored in most media. The food, the music, the language, the folklore, and just the general way of life are all portrayed in this novel.

About the Book

Noël - Of Memories and Sleep (Benjamin Boudreaux)
Click to Read an Excerpt
The town of Beauséjour, located in Southern Louisiana, is home to many Cajuns and Creoles, who are happy to spend their days fishing and crabbing; tilling and sowing; eating, drinking, and laughing. But this town is also home to sinister secrets, which are soon to be unearthed by a child of thirteen summers by the name of Noël Broussard, as well as his friends Évangéline Lejeune, Marc Lejeune, and Amédé Fontenot.

Many strange and terrible things occur, such as denizens visited in their dreams by a nightmarish entity; children selectively spirited from their homes by a demonic creature; and telltale signs of a wolf-like being infecting hapless wayfarers. These are spirits straight out of the traditional oral folklore of the Cajuns and Creoles of Acadiana – and they are very real! But there is something linking them all together – the key to everything – and it will prove integral for Noël as he struggles to solve the mystery and end the terror that plagues his hometown.

This story – the first in a series – delves into the subject of memory, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of fear, anger, sadness, and failure. Noël will have to learn (and accept) many things about himself if he is to succeed.
