About the Book

College professor Emily Ratliffe finally has the opportunity to satisfy her long-denied wanderlust when her scholarly work is accepted for a presentation in London. Against her husband’s wishes, Emily departs for England, leaving him and their fourteen-year-old daughter behind.

But then the unthinkable happens. A terrorist attack involving biological warfare strikes the conference center, and the attendees and other hotel residents fall dangerously ill. Emily also gets sick, but miraculously recovers; she knows she must use her Christian faith, prayer, and perseverance to assist in healing the other victims of the attack. She enlists the help of the handsome Edward Fitzwilliam, a British special agent working undercover as the hotel manager, and the two develop a close friendship.

Watching the events unfold on the news, Emily’s husband wants her to come home immediately, but she refuses, knowing that she must stay where she is needed. She must tread carefully, however, as her relationship with Edward is skirting the boundaries of friendship. What’s more, she is unaware that a greater threat looms. The terrorists did not achieve their mission, and Emily is now their number one target.

Full of adventure, Sheltered by an Angel’s Wings is a breathtaking tale of love, faith, and perseverance in the midst of tragedy.

Reviews (Excerpts)

- "In Pasour’s debut novel, a devout Christian college professor thwarts a terrorist attack in England and becomes a prime target of terrorists in America. Emily Ratliffe always wanted to travel. When she gets the opportunity to present her work at conference in England, her hotel is struck by a biological terrorist attack. All the hotel’s occupants become ill, and many die, as the hotel is put under quarantine. Ratliffe also gets sick but manages to survive thanks to the prayers of an old friend. Ratliffe then decides to save the rest of the hotel—through prayer, and physical and spiritual caregiving. She also uncovers the identity of the terrorist behind the attack. Meanwhile, the professor develops a deep friendship with Edward Fitzwilliam, an undercover British intelligence officer posing as the hotel manager. Ratliffe eventually returns home to her husband and children in North Carolina—but murderous terrorists still have her in their sights, and it’s up to Fitzwilliam to save her. At its best, this thriller is nothing less than an action-packed page-turner. Although the prose sometimes gets overloaded with prayer and Bible verses, particularly in its earlier sections, it flows more easily as the story progresses.
However, the early passages do help develop the characters: “Emily reached for Joseph’s hand. ‘It is probably too late for that, but I want you to know that I forgive you and I will continue to pray that you will seek Jesus as your Savior. He will forgive you, love you, and bring you away from this evil. Trust Him.’”
A Christian-oriented thriller with a wild but entertaining plot."

- "Sheltered by Angel's Wings is truly a must read and a great addition for your library. Categorized, it could go under History or Religion. The intensive research that Dr. Pasour did in writing this novel is truly a dedication to her desire to be an astute writer giving her all to draw you into each and every character. Thank you Dr. Pasour, I am looking forward to the next adventure of Emily Ratliffe. " - Jane Moretz

- "[...] If you are looking for a book about a strong woman character that covers major incidents in her life over a span of years you will enjoy this book! If you like quick reads and short stories you will not enjoy it. Overall I enjoyed the story and felt the author did a good job of writing an entertaining story." - Irene's Christian Reviews

- "Katherine Pasour has written a powerful book based on Christian principles. Reliance on faith in God, and belief in God's promises set the stage for the many miracles for which Emily, the main character, gives God the credit. There are so many twists and turns in this story that I was unable to put it down. The ending left me with a smile on my face, and a song in my heart. " - Sue N Cross
