Chad Bishop is the new police chief for Meridian, Texas. He has a past he desperately wants to forget until four-year-old Mandy Norton goes missing. A kidnapper has lured Mandy from her backyard with a strange, old doll he purchased in a thrift store. When the old doll mysteriously appears in Mandy’s backyard, and an eerie fog drops down over the town, Chad ignores his feelings of dread. He’s got other problems he can’t ignore, the new editor, Ashley Logan.

Butting heads over the kidnapping, Chad discovers the feisty reporter is Mandy’s aunt. She’s not about to leave the search for her niece in the hands of a small-town police force.

As the days pass, details emerge that send the case on a deadly spiral, and still, the ominous fog is there. Whispers from inside the dense mist once more bid for Chad’s attention. He has seen this before, and it almost cost him his sanity.

Forced to face the terror that haunts him, this time, there is far more than his sanity or his career on the line.
