When she's not writing, she's listening to folk music for her show on WAMC public radio, "The Hudson River Sampler," which she's done since 1982. A retired public relations/marketing/media relations professional, she worked for nearly 40 years in not-for-profit and government organizations.
She once sat in the public address announcer's seat at Fenway Park and announced a full baseball game between the Red Sox and Minnesota Twins in 2012.
She lives in Schenectady, NY, with her husband of 44 years, Bill Fischer; they have two grown children and four grandchildren.
