New Indie Book Release: Finding Mother (Anne Allen)

New Indie Book Release:
Finding Mother - Anne Allen
Romantic Family Drama (302 Pages - October 2013)

"This was a really enjoyable feel-good story. Such a pleasure to read something that is not saturated with misery and horrid happenings. Of course there are moments where Nicole's journey is threatened, and there are ups and downs in mood. But that's what makes it so true to life. You feel that Nicole and her two families are real people with recognizable dreams and troubles, just like the rest of us.
Anne's lyrical descriptions give a wonderful sense of place, making it easy to mock up the pictures - the joy of reading!"

Nicole discovers that her husband has been unfaithful – again – and realises that something has to change in her life.

She's had a charmed life until then; a comfortable upbringing as the adopted daughter of an advocate and his wife in Jersey, followed by university and a successful career in radio and television. And the handsome, charming – and adulterous – husband, Tom. Although she's known since a child that she was adopted, it had never really figured in her life until now.

Perhaps it's time to find out who she really is and tracing her natural mother would help. So Nicole takes time away from her husband and her job and begins a journey that will bring her more than she bargained for. She travels from the marital home near Bath, UK, to Spain, Jersey and finally Guernsey. Long-buried secrets are unearthed – one going as far back as WWII - and lives are irrevocably changed by Nicole's search for self-awareness and knowledge of her 'real' parents.

About the Author

Author Anne Allen
Author Anne Allen
Anne Allen is a late-comer to writing, having only started in her, ahem, middle years. (She assumes we'll all be living to 100 from now on, won't we?) She often had an 'itch' to write but was focussed on her career as a psychotherapist and bringing up three children on her own. Writing was a luxury she simply could not afford! Then a few years ago Anne was a reluctant entrant (pushed by her mother!) into a writing competition run by UK Prima magazine. They wanted a True- Life story and she won the first prize of £500 :)  So, deciding that writing wasn't such a bad idea she wrote her first novel, Dangerous Waters, shortly after; eventually publishing it in 2012. Now more or less retired as a therapist, Anne has devoted a lot more time to writing and published her second novel, Finding Mother, in October 2013.

A restless soul, Anne have moved around the country quite a bit, as far north as Scotland and south to Guernsey in the Channel Islands. She feels that the sea must be part of her soul and is happiest when living near it. Anne now lives in Devon to be near her daughter and grandchildren so has the best of both worlds. Anne and her children lived in Guernsey for many happy years and she left one son behind as a valid excuse for frequent return visits. Her other son's based in London so great for when she needs a culture break :)

However, Anne really loves warmer climes, having lived in Spain for a few years. Her ideal would be to spend part of the English winter somewhere warm, possibly Spain, so that she can recharge her body and soul. So, if and when she writes that bestseller…!
