About the Author

Charmain Brackett's road to becoming a writer began as a voracious reader. She grew up in a neighborhood where there were no other girls. Her friends became the characters in the novels she read. She traveled the globe and beyond and had amazing adventures through these stories. She loved the summer because that meant more time for devouring books.

She always loved plot, characters and language so when she went to college, there was no other field of study for me except literature. "Books are part of who I am."
Charmain had written for her high school newspaper, and wrote some for the college newspaper so she decided to minor in communications with an emphasis on print journalism. She started writing for the local newspaper 24 years ago while still in college, and newsprint got in her blood.

Since that time, Charmain Brackett wrote for several newspapers and magazines, and in 2008, her featured writing was honored at top levels when she received 2nd place at the Department of the Army level in the Keith L. Ware journalism competition.

After years of people asking her “When are you going to write a book?,” she wrote her debut novel The Key of Elyon.
