About the Book

Based on a true story, the two-book So Faithful a Heart edition spans the years 1783 to 1817 and takes place in Western Europe, primarily in the cities of Vienna and London. It is the story of English soprano, Anna “Nancy” Storace who was Mozart’s original Susanna in his famous comic opera, The Marriage of Figaro.

In January of 1783 a comic soprano sensation arrives in the Habsburg Empire capital city of Vienna as the Emperor’s new prima buffa in his newly established Italian Opera. Nancy Storace captures the attention of Wolfgang Mozart who is newly married to his wife, Constanze, and is looking for a new singer to inspire an Italian comic opera that will make his reputation soar and make his fortune in the musical city. The two prodigies uncover a deep simpatico and despite Mozart’s misgivings about taking a mistress, he finds Nancy irresistible and the two launch into a tumultuous love affair that is doomed to end in tragedy.

Reviews (Excerpts)

- "So Faithful A Heart skillfully draws the reader into the often mysterious and romanticized world of 18th century composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and his operatic leading lady, Anna Storace. Erwin manages to humanize the Herculean legend of Mozart and displays his flaws, humor, passion and genius with the vulnerability of a man struggling to cope with the mistakes in his life. Storace is a likable heroine with a healthy balance of fire and the demure expectations of women in her time. They make an unstoppable pair." - J. Jones (Author and Historian)

- "[...] This book had everything a historical romance needs to make it a masterpiece, you learn so much about the time, and how people lived the struggles they go through, the way marriage actually worked back then. Times were hard and having a love and married was even harder.
I know whoever reads "So Faithful a Heart" will find it as riveting and captivating as I did. "
- Andrew Stroud

- "Lynette Erwin's novel is a masterpiece that sheds light on one of histories most exciting and famous composer. With what might appear at first glance to be a typical historical piece listing dull and boring events, "So Faithful a Heart" is a wonderfully written narrative that weaves a story of a forgotten and lasting love that has been under the public's nose in some of Mozart's greatest works.[...]" - Alba R. Taylor

- "Spell-binding historical fiction at its best, this love story of Nancy Storace & Wolfgang Mozart made me look forward to bedtime, my reading time. That is a rare feat! The writing is so well crafted that the words disappear on the page as the story swells and develops beautifully into a living movie in the reader's mind. I'm looking forward to this gifted writer's next project! " - Lori Werth
