Author Ginger Sharp
Alan Kealey (Indie Author News): What is your (writing) background?
Ginger Sharp: I really do not have a writing background. I was more of a technical writer with creating documentation for information technology staff.

Who are your favorite writers, your favorite books, and who or what are your writing influences?
Nicki Charles, Stephen King and really are too many to list! I just found a new author that I am really digging! Amy Bol and her new book Taste of Bane which is a lycan story. I really enjoy lycan novels.

When did you first know that you wanted to be a writer?
I never thought I would be a writer. Just something I played around with and a few friends from work encouraged me to do more with my writing. I mostly dream my stories and then run to my laptop to begin the outline process.

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Oh yes, I remember! I was in 2nd grade and I had my own typewriter. I wrote a silly little Tom and Jerry spin off comic.

"I have a dream then I outline. I start writing!"

Tell us about your writing process. Do you have a writing routine?
I have a dream then I outline. I start writing! I have to get the words down before the husband comes home to distract me!

Ginger Sharp's Workplace
Please, describe your desk/workplace.
No desk.... My couch, end table and coffee table is where I live along with my large ice coffee. I sit next to the window and stare outside a little too much. I have this rhododendron next to the window where I put suet for birds. I watch the titmouse birds feast. The bird feeder also doubles as a cat distraction tactic. This keeps Livi, my husband’s cat off my keyboard.

What do you find easiest about writing? What the hardest?
If the dream was a good vivid one then I have no problem writing. I am dyslexic and sometimes my words to not come out correctly. I also think that I have developed A.D.D as I have become older. (LOL)

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Once the book is done and come back from edit! I am thrilled to see how my mess come together. I played it cool on Lost Her. I was afraid to be overly raunchy. I overcame my shyness by the end of Lost Years. After that meek hurdle, I just wrote it how I felt the story was meant to be. No covering up the character flaws trying to make them likable.

Ginger, please tell us a little about your Adult Romance Novel Lost Her.
This story is about Olivia finding herself and Ryan realizing that. This love story is powerful and deep. Making a marriage work is hard, and this shows that. So much happens to develop the relationships in this story. You feel them each connect and grow as people

What inspired you to write the book?
Lost Her is a wine inspired crazy dream. I would wake up two o’clock in the morning with these continuous dreams about the characters that I just could not erase from my brain.

Who do you see as your target audience and where can we buy the book?
Adults just wanting a good read. The book is available at Amazon and Barnes and Nobles.

"My fans mean EVERYTHING to me!"

What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean EVERYTHING to me! There is one person who reaches out to me via Facebook telling me how much she loves the stories that I have written. I love feedback, PLEASE!

How would you describe the success of your book so far?
Just starting to really push the books. I have some people that love all four books that I have written and others hate my writing. I learned a very long time ago to just please myself and maybe a few others may agree with me.

How long did it take it to write the book?
Lost Her turned out to be a series. I wrote all three books in two months.

"[...] collaborate with other people who can provide feedback on the storyline."

Can you give some advice for other Authors regarding the writing process?
Outline your story first and then collaborate with other people who can provide feedback on the storyline.

Are you working on another book project? Can you tell us a little about it?
Jaded Legacy and this is Parker Nevil's story which turns out to be another trilogy.

Where do you see the book market in 5 or 10 years? Will there be only eBooks and will book stores disappear like record stores disappeared?
To be honest, I am really not sure. I watch many apocalypse type movies and TV shows where I see the need for books. I must say I do love reading on my reader.

What is your e-reading device of choice?
1st choice is my laptop because I have an external 24” monitor sitting on my end table. The large monitor makes reading so much easier. My 2nd choice is my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" and 3rd choice is my iPad. I use Kindle on all 3 platforms.

Do you write full-time or do you have a day job? When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I normally have a full-time career in Information Technology, but I decided to change it up. I went back to school this past year to become an Animal Control Officer and Animal Cruelty Investigator. I am still just volunteering and helping out with my local SPCA.
