Author DS Kane
DS Kane is a former government spy, still telling lies as a spy-thriller novelist. His unique perspective and experience has led him to teach fiction writing courses on covert training, secret operations and other topics in the thriller genre at the Whidbey Island MFA program and various writers conferences. For more than a decade, his work as a global financial management consultant and as faculty at NYU's Stern Graduate School of Business also served as his cover identity.

Prior to writing fiction, he contributed to numerous financial trade journals on topics including global banking, computer fraud and countermeasures, financial forecasting, global electronic-funds transfer networks, and corporate finance. In 2007, he co-founded an online writers’ workshop called ActFourWriters.

In recent years, he’s been a featured speaker at multiple financial conferences and conventions, as well as the California Writers Club. He has also contributed tech- and Internet privacy-related articles to The Huffington Post.

DS Kane's life in espionage began years ago, when he worked in an intelligence service as a field operative. Kane says, “Much of my work product was pure but believable fiction, lies I told, and truths I concealed. Secrets that—if revealed—might have gotten me killed. From where I stand, this is true for most of the folks serving in every intelligence agency, and it’s the basis for my fiction.”
