Sometimes the ocean hands you an unexpected wave.

Travis Kelly wants nothing more than to win the world surfing championship and show up his rival, Kane, but when a horrible accident leaves him disabled, he finds himself floating in a world of misery. Surfing was his life. How will he cope?

By drowning his sorrows in alcohol, he runs the risk of following in his dead-beat brother’s footsteps—a path of addiction he despises, yet seems drawn toward.

Adrift in a sea of self-destruction, Travis struggles between what makes the pain disappear, and what the surfer really wants—the ocean, the girl, and the union of his family.

With a touch of Hawaiian culture, Liquid Comfort is a stirring tale of surf, addiction, determination and unconditional love. Hang on for a gnarly ride!

“There are many forms of comfort. Some will drown you. Others will keep you afloat.”

About the Author

Author Cheryl Lee Petro
Author Cheryl Lee Petro
Cheryl Lee Petro, has had a passion for writing ever since winning a short story contest in grade three. Living on the streets when she was fifteen-years-old placed her in diverse situations, and much of her writing focuses on the issues she was forced to deal with such as addiction, abandonment, grief, and rebellion. Through these hardships she learned a great deal about "what not to do" and hopes to pass that on in her writing.

Cheryl is 36 years old and lives in Calgary, AB, Canada. Although she grew up in the prairies, she has always considered herself a soul-surfer at heart. She rode her first wave at Waikiki Beach when she was eight years old and quickly developed an infatuation for the sport. It, too, became one of her biggest passions. She visits the Hawaiian Islands regularly, spending most of her time on the North Shore of Oahu. Although she is not a local, the spirit of Aloha lives in her heart and will remain there forever.
