About the Book
You can't run away from yourself.
Catherine Elbert has never been good at making decisions, whether it was choosing an ice cream flavor as a small child, or figuring out what she wanted to be when she grew up. The only thing Catherine knew for sure was there had to be more to life than being stuck on her family’s farm in Wisconsin.
While watching a PBS travel show, Catherine becomes entranced by Portland, Maine. The ocean. The lobsters. The rugged coast. Nothing could be more different from the flat, nondescript farmlands of Burkesville.
Despite her parents threatening to disown her and her brothers taking bets on how many days until she comes home, Catherine settles on Peaks Island, off the coast of Portland.
She is finally free.
Or so she thought...

- "I loved the first book of The Bibliophiles series, A Whisper to a Scream. I knew the remaining books in the series would each focus on specific members of the book club introduced in the first book, and wondered how that would work. Would the stories be chronological, happening at the same time (which seemed like it would present problems), or something else. It turned out to be something else, at least in the case of Until My Soul Gets It Right.[...]
Berner has a talent with prose that flows smoothly and puts the reader right where they belong, inside the character's head. Until My Soul Gets It Right is another winner." - BigAl (Amazon Top 500 Reviewer)
- "What a wonderful addition to an already engrossing series. Anyone who enjoyed Book 1 - "A Whisper to a Scream", will be happy to continue the story of the Bibliophiles group! In, "Until My Soul Gets It Right", we are reintroduced to "the actress", Catherine and we find out how she made it into the Classics Book Club. I enjoyed the references to the Chicago/Naperville area and can't wait for the author to give us the next addition" - Eileen (Amazon)
- "Until My Soul Gets It Right, has gotten it right! The story takes you back to Catherine Elbert's childhood and upward into her contemporary life, exposing her weaknesses and dreams, causing you to bond with her imperfect soul and root for her complete and utter happiness. Karen Wojcik Berner's writing flowed beautifully, creating wonderful scenes for the reader. I enjoyed the book from beginning to end and look forward to Karen's next offering. Well done!!" - Leah2012 (B&N)
- "The book Until My Soul Gets It Right was amazing! I read it entirely in one day, I just couldn't put it down! Catherine Elbert inspires you to go out and do the things you want to do. I didn't read the first story in the series The Bibliophiles but now I really want to.[...]" - Amy (Goodreads)
About the Author
|Karen Wojcik Berner|
Karen is the author of The Bibliophiles series, which centers around members of a fictional suburban book club. Unlike most series, which follow one character through various adventures, this series is a little different. Each book club member "stars" in his or her own novel. Readers get to explore their backstories and what made them the people they are when they join the book club.
For example, the first novel, A Whisper to a Scream (The Bibliophiles: Book One), features overwhelmed, stay-at-home mom, Sarah, and Annie, a P.R. executive dealing with fertility issues. When they meet through the book club, each thinks the other's life is so much better than her own. But, ultimately, they learn otherwise.
The second, Until My Soul Gets It Right (The Bibliophiles: Book Two), follows farm girl Catherine Elbert as she bounces from US coast to coast in search of her true self.
Karen Wojcik Berner has begun writing some scenes and compiling notes for the third Bibliophiles book, which is untitled right now, about two more book club members, Thaddeus, a computer programmer and anglophile, and Spring, the daughter of leftover hippies who runs a juice bar.
She will also releasing a digital holiday short November 1st. “Sarah and Annie: A Bibliophiles’ Christmas” will feature the two main characters from her first book.
